The Arab League condemns the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, strongly condemned the continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, and the deliberate targeting of Lebanese infrastructure and bridges in a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, security and stability, and a clear breach of international law.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, explained that Israel’s objectives have become clear in its pursuit of establishing a buffer zone in southern Lebanon and its systematic policy of tearing apart the Lebanese map and displacing the Lebanese people. He stressed the responsibility of the UN Security Council to put an end to these Israeli attacks and stop them immediately, and to compel Israel to respect international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, including the full and complete implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
The official spokesperson expressed the Secretary-General’s concern about the worsening state of tension in Lebanon as a result of the Israeli aggression, stressing the Arab League’s support for all efforts made by the Lebanese state to maintain civil peace and to deal with the acute humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and its serious social consequences, through the Councils of Ministers of Health and Social Affairs.
